I know…100 calories doesn’t seem like much, right? Below I’ll give you a couple good reasons why these 100 calories likely turn in to much more than 100 calories…

But first I want you to know that I get why you may be struggling with your weight loss. And I get why you could very well be confused by all the conflicting weight loss advice out there.

I have a dear friend who at this moment is very depressed because she is back up in her weight again… Her eating is way out of control, and she feels utterly trapped and totally miserable. And yes, she falls in to these clever little marketing “food traps” I talk about.

The 100 calorie snack pack trap… Yep…She’s pretty stuck there.

don’t think I don’t try to help her. But you know the old saying:

“You can lead a horse to water”… Right? Sound familiar?

The hard truth is that some horses are just not thirsty enough! They do not want the water/good-advice. Perhaps you are ready to take good advice when you see it?

Getting back to my friend… She, like so many of you has gone up and down with her

–>> weight <<– (yo-yo dieting) all of her life.

Whether or not she will settle down to eating like I’m going to suggest to you in a minute I sadly do not know. Again, it depends on when she gets thirsty enough. BTW, this was me in my 20’s.

I’d eat healthfully for a month or so. Lose weight. Start to look and feel fantastic. Then. Bam! back to my old habit of overeating and eating the unhealthy junk. Finally now in my 50’s I have it dialed in. No sugar. No junk. Only good whole unprocessed food and proper exercise to facilitate fat loss and muscle maintenance.(don’t wait this long)!

Okay. Now on to the message that I think is so important for you to know regarding 100 calorie snacks…

My friend says, “They’re only 100 calories”!.

You know what I’m talking about here? Go to the market and now every “snack food” (you know, pretzels, cookies, crackers, chips, popcorn, mini candy bars, etc) now comes in a “100-calorie” snack pack.

And yes, I understand the premise — a well-intentioned attempt at portion and calorie control by limiting serving sizes to a measly 100 calories a pop.

Unfortunately, 100-calorie snack packs are stealthy little traps for a couple of important reasons:

1.  A 100 calorie snack isn’t big enough to cause satiety and a sense of satisfaction.  In other words, you’re still going to be hungry after you eat it, which leads me to my next point.

2.  99% of these 100-calorie snack packs are made up of foods that possess no nutritional value and do nothing but awaken cravings for more unhealthy, processed foods.  In other words, um – dare I say it – they’re complete crap. Even if they taste good for a moment in your mouth.

You feel safe with these small tidy little bundles of so-called snack foods, and then it doesn’t stop at just one little 100-cal snack, you keep eating and eating. And it’s not really your fault after the first bite. Your body chemistry gets so screwed up and you are driven to have more and more.

Awe, been there done that. I used to eat a lot of sugar. No more of that for about 3 years and I’m leaner an healthier for it.

This is a recipe for completely blowing your diet if I ever saw one,

and we have those pesky little snack packs to blame. And trust me, you are not just blowing your diet you are actually setting yourself up for

Which actually means messin’ with your metabolism (big time) creating future health issues that are too depressing too even get in to here.

you SHOULD be snacking…but it needs to be with the right food. Healthy unprocessed Food that

-->> revs up <<– your metabolism so you burn fat through eating.

But we need to learn to like the healthy food and totally avoid the “food traps”. In other words, food that is marketed as healthy but are instead creating food cravings and hindering your weight loss.

Look, it’s really easy to avoid these food traps. Simply decide you are going to prepare more healthy meals at home. And over time you’ll learn to enjoy the taste of whole, unprocessed food. If you need more great tips to overcome
