“I am addicted to food”. “Food is my only friend”. “I eat too much, and my food cravings are out of control”.
I hear this all the time from some of my students in spin class. And I have a lot of close friends who struggle with this issue. IN fact, back in college, I did too.
This is so common. Do you find your self saying this? Feeling this way?
==>> Is your diet making you fat?
It seems that people blame their troubles with weight control or weight loss on the fact that they have a hard time controlling what they eat.
But, is this really the case?
When I look deeper into this problem, it many times isn’t the case. That is, I find that it really isn’t your fault. Could it be the kind of food you are eating that creates an “addictive” kind of uncontrollable overeating behavior with food?
You think it’s weak will power. But in a minute, you’ll see that perhaps the food you choose literally takes control of your brain and you become uncontrollable.
Frankly, this is how I stopped my uncontrollable overeating patterns. I stopped eating certain kinds of “trigger food”…
Let’s take a closer look at the kind of food I’m talking about, more specifically, the processed food industry, and then I will offer the perfect solution to your food addiction, and overeating habits.
The truth behind your overeating and food addiction
Mark Hyman, MD. Practicing physician points out very persuasively that the junky, packaged, industrial food that make up most western diets is creating a strong, drug-like addiction that is literally making you eat more…
I see this to be true in so many of my students, and it was true with me way back in my 20’s.
Check this out…
New discoveries in science prove that industrially processed, sugar-, fat- and salt-laden food – “food that is made in a plant rather than grown on a plant”, as Michael Pollan would say – which makes processed food biologically addictive.
Think about what this means.
Imagine a foot-high pile of broccoli or celery, or a giant bowl of apple slices. Do you know anyone who would binge on broccoli or apples? On the other hand, imagine a mountain of potato chips or a whole bag of cookies, or a carton of ice cream.
Right?
Those are very easy to imagining vanishing in an unconscious, reptilian brain eating frenzy. Broccoli is not addictive, but cookies, chips, or soda absolutely can become addictive drugs.
And please do not be thinking that you’re not a victim of addictive food if you eat the well-known “brand name” foods made by Weight Watchers and the like. This stuff is also highly addictive. My sister knows this first hand.
So, it’s not the overeating that is the problem, but it’s actually the symptom of eating addictive, processed food. Your only solution is to find the right information to help you out of the dark hole I call “food addiction hell””
Want to get a lean body and out of this terrible food addiction pattern like I did?
