My answer may surprise you. You can get a lean body through the use of either the Diet Solution Program (DSP) or through the use of the Atkins Diet.
However, 1 way of eating is for life, the other cannot be sustained for life for most people.

The Atkins Diet
The popularity of Dr. Robert Atkins diet plans has not waned much at all. Just type in ‘Atkins diet plan’ in any search engine. Results will likely return somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 million hits!
The basic theory behind the Atkins Diet is about the kind of fuel the body burns.
Atkins found that the reason for all the fat on our bodies is that the body has access to so much carbohydrates to burn. Thus, the body does not dip in to all that nasty fat stored there around your middle…
Atkins says “Cut way back on carbs, and your metabolism shifts to burning fat”.
Is the Atkins Diet plan for you?
Let’s just say the Atkins Diet is good for some people. What I have learned from natural health experts like Isabel De Los Rios, Mike Geary, and Dr. Mercola is that one diet does not fit all. There is no doubt that each of us has a “nutritional type”. The bottom line is that some individuals do well on a very low carbohydrate diet with a heavier emphasis on fats and protein. While others are mixed, and then others do much better on a very high carbohydrate diet. I’m talking of course about the good carbs here… Like veggies, a little fruit, and some select grains.
BTW, back in the 60’s when the Atkins diet plan began to take shape, the big issue about carbs was in the area of refined carbs. Or I like to say on this blog

You no what I’m talking about right? Anything packaged, processed, or with more than 2-3 ingredients… This means even items that claim to be healthy like cold ready-to-eat cereals, crackers of all kinds, cookies, cakes pies bagels pasta, even whole wheat bread is fattening and acts like sugar in your body.
Both the Atkins and the DSP tell you to cut processed carbs. These carbs are junk to your body…
Hard to believe that even whole wheat bread is a dangerous carb? Then read this excellent article by Isabel De Los Rios (holistic nutritionist of the DSP) who tells you

Interestingly, Atkins was really trying to tell us and warn us against the typical western diet that concentrates on white flour, white sugar, and tons of preservatives and additives.. All very detrimental to your overall long-term health. And to your ability to burn fat, lose weight and stay lean. So,

And you will get a lean body and get healthy at the same time.
On the other hand, to cut out the good, complex carbs like veggies can be very tricky, and could in some cases be dangerous. Case in point… About 3 weeks ago, a close relative decided to do a “crash diet” with an Atkins style diet. But she did not follow it well. She actually had only red meat for 3 days straight. Nothing else. And she got quite ill, and is not well yet.
So, it’s too extreme to cut out veggies, fruit and all grains like brown rice an quinoa for long periods of time. Especially vegetables. We need veggies for vitamins and minerals. Any diet plan that tells you to stop eating veggies is dangerous and not safe… In my opinion, there is no need for diet plan extremes.
The Diet Solution Program
The DSP is built around each individual nutrition type. You are given an easy, quick test to determine what are the best foods for you.
Look, at first, it may be challenging to dump the junk and adopt what Isabel calls “a healthy eating plan”…
If this is you, my heart goes out to you. But if you really are dedicated, and determined to get a lean body, and also look and feel better then the DSP plan will work for you. Isabel encourages people to take it slow and adopt 1-2 changes per week and even then you will see amazing weight loss results. That’s how toxic the western diet is.
Frankly, the best thing I can recommend for anyone who wants to lose weight, and get healthy is to find a healthy eating plan that is not restrictive, or extreme. This way you can use the guidelines your whole life through. No diet, just a healthy way of eating.
It’s your choice. you can check out the DSP or some other plan that tells you how to eat healthy, whole natural foods… I care that you get healthy and stop slowly poisoning yourself with highly processed junk known as the Standard American Diet (SAD).
The program that is right for you is one that will help you determine your correct nutritional type and the one that does this the best is Isabel De Los Rios’s healthy eating plan.
One of the best things about the DSP is that Isabel does not advocate extremes of any kind.
