Growing up, I would often hear my mom say, “here I go again, I’m going to have to go on a diet”!

 

Bless her heart. What she really meant was that she would temporarily do some kind of sacrifice, (usually in the form of calorie restriction). But a calorie restriction for a short time. Her diet would last until she got to some kind of outer result. Then she’d go back to her former way of eating.

 

Hmm…sound familiar?

 

Usually this is how we view “diets”. Right? We view them as a short-term sacrifice intended to get the weight off, at which point many people revert back to their old eating habits and subsequently regain the weight.

 

This is commonly referred to as Yo-yo dieting.

 

This is so sad and so demoralizing. And it puts so much pressure and stress on our mental, emotional, and physical makeup.

 

The core of the issue is that in order to lose weight in the long run you need to adjust your eating habits permanently and adopt a new healthier lifestyle. This isn’t a short-term Band-Aid, it’s a foundational change, and as such it must be a change that you can live with.

 

To finally normalize your weight and get a lean body, You must find a healthy eating plan you can enjoy, love, and use every day.

The key to permanent, and easy weight loss is to ditch the refined carbohydrates.

 

I simply cannot list all of them here. But, the key is to begin eliminating anything that has more than 1 or 2 ingredients, or that comes in a bag, a box, or a jar or bottle with a food manufacturers label on it.

 

Like:

 

  •       breakfast cereals (including health bars, granola bars etc,
  •       pretzels,
  •       chips corn or potato, (baked or fried or broiled whatever)
  •       Healthy sounding muffins, (or any bread item made from white flour)
  •       Any carb that is high in fat and sugar like a doughnut cookie cake or pie,
  •       Store-bought fruit or vegetable juices of any kind (store bought juices are pasteurized and    filled with added sugars regardless of the pretty label or health claims),
  •       And all other processed foods…

Well, it’s not because I’m a mean, nasty person who wants you to have nothing yummy or enjoyable to eat.

 

On the contrary, I personally love good food and love to eat. I especially adore dessert.
